Now in their 3rd season, Blazes boasts an exciting array of new recruits including former Melbourne Vixens shooter Kim Commane, and current Open Mixed players Sara Febbo and Lachlan Deane. Combined with current Open Men’s defender Tim Malmo and Open Mixed dynamo Andrew Lewis, Blazes will be hoping to finish better than their 4th placing last year.

Combined with current VNL players Tarryn Munro (DC North East Blaze) and Danielle Wilson (City West Falcons) and former VNL players Sophie Durham and Demi Woodlock, Braves will be looking to make a strong claim for the title in 2017.

City West Falcons
A new addition to the division, City West Falcons sees former Opens Mens player and current coach of the U23s National Championship winning side Matthew Blomeley team up with his U23s players. Joined by the ever reliable shooter Joshua Smith, experienced defender Cameron Martin and dynamic midcourter Jake Noonan, this is a team that is sure to be one to watch. Along with a number of VNL players from the team’s namesake VNL club, Falcons look set to make their mark on an already incredibly competitive division.

Premiers of Division 1 from 2016, Eastside Sonics have been elevated to the Premier division, retaining 8 of their 9 Div 1 winning members. They welcome Vic Flames 2014 rep Andrea Tai to the squad, who has returned to netball in 2017 from her second knee reconstruction in as many years, along with City West Falcons squad member and Samoan Vice Captain at the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup, Soli Ropati.

Melbourne City Blackhawks
After finishing in the top two the last two seasons but then losing in the Semi Finals, Blackhawks will be hoping 2017 will be their year. Boasting two VNL premiership and Victorian mixed players in Sarah Szczykulski and Elle McDonald as well as former ANZ player Stephanie Puopolo, and current Open Men’s players Daniel Cooke, Corey Jackson and Andrew Simons, Blackhawks will again be a force within the Mixed Premier division and a strong contender for the title.

Reigning premiers, the Panther’s will be looking to defend their title with a playing roster boasting some of the strongest emerging netballers in Victoria. Panthers will see the return from injury of Riley Richardson, an incredibly agile midcourter as he partners again with fellow young gun Brodie Roberts and the dynamic duo of brother’s Corey and Dylan Nexhip. With females including 2018 Vixens training partner Jacqui Newton, the odds are ever in the Panther’s favour of retaining the title in 2017.

Southern Stars are a newly formed team with current Open Men’s midcourter Guy Keane and former Victorian players Greg Heinrich (Open Mens), Gerard Murphy (Open Mens) and Trent Morison (Mens Reserves). They will be joined by a number of VNL girls making their debut at MLeague.

Finishing 3rd in Division 1 last year, Valley Wolves have been elevated to Premier Division. With Open Men’s defender Alastair Punshon and U23s shooter Cameron Allum, Valley Wolves have incredible strength at either end of the court. The addition of Mixed Reserve shooter Nat Billings and midcourter Hannah Kuhar ensures they are a team that should not be underestimated.
